He has several solo albums to his credit, and all of them are mesmerizing. He brings more of an Eastern influence to his music than some of the other "primitive" guitarists. While some of the Sun City Girls recordings are pretty out there, and at times far from melodic, the same cannot be said of his solo work. Here is an example from his Improvika album:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?tvisjc92ayx">Skull of Sidon</a>Its Parstichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02444556996550218673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889468633805832763.post-86687941805440843612008-05-02T21:53:00.000-04:002008-05-02T23:16:11.224-04:00its parstic podcast # 4<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://history.utah.gov/news_and_events/currents/past_issues/images/prison--cell_block.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px;" src="http://history.utah.gov/news_and_events/currents/past_issues/images/prison--cell_block.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?yvd1mqnxpzr">Download</a><br /><br />Track Listing:<br />1. After being blown away by his guitar playing, I went searching for other, and newer musicians that treat the guitar the same way he did. Among the current crop of instrumental guitarists (and there are several great ones that we'll get to eventually), one my favorites thus far has got to be Glenn Jones. Jones is a founding member of instrumental rock band Cul de Sac, and within the past few years has released a few solo acoustic albums that are amazing. 2007's <span style="font-style: italic;">Against Which The Sea Continually Beats</span>, is one of my favorite albums of the past few months. I strongly urge anyone remotely interested in this kind of music to check it out.<br /><br />Here's a track:<br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?djwy2mld411">Against My Ruin</a>Its Parstichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02444556996550218673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889468633805832763.post-83657721452474497532008-04-27T21:30:00.004-04:002008-04-27T22:22:45.990-04:00its parstic podcast # 1<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.library.dal.ca/duasc/buildings/images/ForrestBldgAsItWasInThe1800s_ForrestBldg.9.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px;" src="http://www.library.dal.ca/duasc/buildings/images/ForrestBldgAsItWasInThe1800s_ForrestBldg.9.JPG" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?okdd9jcc1gj">Download</a><br /><br />Track Listing:<br />1. Edward W. Clayborn was another big name amongst the Guitar Evangelists who recorded extensively in the late '20s and '30s. Clayborn was yet another master of the slide guitar, and here, you can hear it for yourself:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?gm15wgsdk0x">Reverend Edward W Clayborn - Let Jesus Lead You</a>Its Parstichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02444556996550218673noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889468633805832763.post-90414746259519544972008-04-22T22:50:00.003-04:002008-04-22T23:11:29.825-04:00Blind Willie Johnson<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.wirz.de/music/johnsbw/grafik/johnsbw.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 157px; height: 179px;" src="http://www.wirz.de/music/johnsbw/grafik/johnsbw.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br />Blind Willie Johnson was the guitar evangelist. He had one foot planted in the blues, and the other foot firmly planted in spiritual music, and he wasn't alone. There have been many blues singing preachers, and a lot of them are collected nicely for us on <a href="http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:hpfqxqtsld0e">this here compilation that i just picked up</a>. I'm not much of a fan of evangelists in general, but there's something about this music that makes the message that much easier to go down smoothly. As we dive headfirst into this music, we'll share more of it.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?eeyxiczxfis">Blind Willie Johnson - You'll Need Somebody On Your Bond</a>Its Parstichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02444556996550218673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7889468633805832763.post-86739225962786557912008-04-21T23:07:00.001-04:002008-04-24T15:09:09.708-04:00jack rose<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/files/jack_rose_cdweb.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 200px;" src="http://psychedelicfolk.homestead.com/files/jack_rose_cdweb.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />let's start things off with a track from Jack Rose's 2004 album Raag Manifestos:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?moxek0kbmyf">Jack Rose - Black Pearls From The River</a><br /><br />it's parstic.<br />stay tuned. Its Parstichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02444556996550218673noreply@blogger.com0
