Blind Willie Johnson was the guitar evangelist. He had one foot planted in the blues, and the other foot firmly planted in spiritual music, and he wasn't alone. There have been many blues singing preachers, and a lot of them are collected nicely for us on this here compilation that i just picked up. I'm not much of a fan of evangelists in general, but there's something about this music that makes the message that much easier to go down smoothly. As we dive headfirst into this music, we'll share more of it.
